Searching JamLoop is as easy as entering what you want to look for and then hitting the "Search" button. You can further refine your search results with the JamLoop UI.
In general, JamLoop searches will do some matching so that terms like stratocaster will give you results that have similar words such as strat or misspellings such as stratacoster. JamLoop also uses multiple techniques for ranking results and returning best matches based on your search criteria.
Additionally, if you wish to have more control over the search results JamLoop supports common search operators that you can use.
A "+" operator indicates that a valid result must contain an exact match of the following search term. A "-" operator indicates a valid result "Most Not Contain" the following search term.
For Example: When searching Fender Telecaster -pickguard will return results that have words Fender and Telecaster, but cannot have the word pickguard anywhere.
It is possible to search categories in a query. The "category:" operator allows you define which category of search results you want JamLoop to return.
For Example: The search Fender Telecaster category:guitar will return results that match Fender Telecaster but have to be in the category "guitar".
If you enclose your search terms with quotations, JamLoop will search for the exact phrase you entered. There will not be any special matching done to the phrase.
It is possible to combine phrases with other operators as well.
For Example: When searching "black strat" JamLoop will return results that have that contain the exact phrase "black strat".
If you search Gibson +"Les Paul" you will get results that have words matched with Gibson and must contain the phrase "Les Paul".
Boolean operators are supported in JamLoop searches. When entering search terms use AND between terms to indicate that you want both terms to appear in your search results. An OR between search terms indicates that a valid result can contain either term. Finally a NOT entry between search terms indicate that a valid result contains the first term but not the second term.
For Example: Fender AND Stratocaster means that the search will return results that have both Fender and Stratocaster found.
The AND operator is implicitly used when entering multiple search terms.
Parentheses characters can be used to group boolean operators together as well as grouping fields together.
For Example: (Fender AND Telecaster) OR Stratocaster category:(Fender Guitars) will return results from the Fender Guitars category that have the words Fender Telecaster or Stratocaster.
